I am so excited by this announcement by Colleen Hoover that It Ends With Us is now cast with my favourite actress, Blake Lively, playing Lily. While I'm waiting for the movie I am doing a retrospective of my favourite Lively movies. The Shallows![]() This is one of my all time favourite horror/thriller movies. First up, I need to confess I am obsessed with shark horror movies. I have watched them all, from the wacky to the terrifying, but that's another post. In this movie Lively is a woman lost after the death of her mother. Seeking connection she finds the beach that her mother was at when she found out she was pregnant with her. As she goes to surf, terror lurks below and she engages in a life and death battle with a bloodythirsty shark. This movie has all my favourite tropes: a strong female, constant terror and tension, beautiful character arc, and gorgeous scenery. On Binge and Stan in Australia A Simple Favour![]() Kendrick plays Stephanie, a stay at home mother who has an online YouTube cooking channel as a creative outlet. Lively, Emily, a working mother in a high powered job who is the ultimate Girl Boss. The two become friends because they are on the outside of the other school mum cliques. When Emily goes missing Stephanie gets drawn into who is the mysterious Emily. This is like a cozy mystery on steroids with a gorgeous cast, hysterical dialogue, that plays out female rivalry and friendship in a stylish way. There is a second movie in the making and I can't wait. On Binge, Netflix and Stan in Australia. The Age of Adaline![]() A romantic fantasy film where Adaline plays a woman who doesn't age. It follows her life and love life as the finds a way to live with this amazing gift, or is it a curse? This is such an amazing premise and so well executed. It has so much heart and soul. Love it so much. I'm sad to say it's not on any streaming services in Oz at the moment. Have put a reminder on Netflix so I get a notification when it's on. Award-winning author Amra Pajalić showcases her gritty, poignant and sometimes bruising voice in this eclectic short story book of previously published and prize-winning stories. Featuring powerful and moving stories of family dissolution, deprivation of war, tenderness of family and the heart-rending experiences of mental illness. Thriller stories with a twist of vindictiveness and retribution, and love stories that make the heart sing, this collection will delight and entertain. Sassy Saints is the name of my young adult series about six sassy teens coming of age in St Albans, as they navigate their sexual and cultural identity, and search for belonging. Love my logo and my new merchandise amrapajalic.com/sassy_saints_series.html It is so amazing to me that my books are being sold internationally. This month I have sold 44 physical books, my biggest figure thus far, and the month isn't done. The top three sellers are all of my romance novel Hollywood Dreams: 17 dyslexic font copies, 15 hardcover, 9 large print, and then all different titles and formats. Geographic distribution: 6 in Australia, 15 France, 10 Germany, 3 Poland, 5 Canada. Some figures still haven't been processed and this is what's showing up on the IngramSpark dashboard. This is especially heartening because this book was traditionally published as a digital first and barely sold, then sat in my drawer for 8 years. And now here we are-I have readers and sales. It just goes to show that you never know how things will go in this publishing world and to never give up. Just keep swimming, little fish. I am loving this indie world and being a small press. So much freedom and opportunity.

My childhood was chaotic and traumatic. When I became a mother I suffered PTSD as those early memories tormented me. Writing my #memoir #thingsnobodyknowsbutme helped me to unburden and process my trauma. More about my memoir.
I am now addicted to #memoirwriting when I need to process or take stock. If you’re in Melbourne’s West I’m running a memoir writing workshop at Caroline Springs Library, book here.
