Learning spelling

Students learn how to spell wordbanks every week and complete a spelling test where a parent reads the words out and corrects them.

Learning how to spell strategies

  • I say the word slowly
  • I divide it into parts
  • I think about the number of syllables
  • I write it down & see if it looks right
  • If it doesn’t look right, I underline it.
  • I try to write the word another way
  • I use a dictionary to check.
  • I check my own spelling before anyone else reads my writing.
  • I underline spelling errors in others’ work.
