The Summer of Amra

Finished the last day of the school year and I feel all giddy with the holidays stretching out in front of me and the possibilities that time offers. This is kind of what I feel like.

The past few weeks have been extra exciting. Coming of Age: Growing up Muslim in Australia was selected by the Grattan Institute for the 2015 Summer Reading List for the Prime Minister. The shortlist was featured on ABC TV. There was also a public event at the State Library of Victoria and you can watch the filmed event here (Coming of Age is discussed at the 15.45 mark).

In other news my husband Fikret Pajalic was successful in receiving a Australia Council grant, which is great for me because I'm running a workshop on How to Write a Successful Funding Application at Writers Victoria Sunday 24 January 2016 - 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Seriously though I'm very proud of him and extremely excited about the manuscript he's working on.

In the meantime my summer holidays will be all about writing and I'm going to enjoy putting my author hat on, while enjoying lots of down time with my family. Hope everyone is having a great break and happy holidays.
