I feel like I've retreated from the world for the past few months as I've wrangled my thesis. These school holidays I have spent at least 3 hours a day working on it, and I am so rapt to report, I have a draft. While I still have a ways to go in terms of submitting, getting my supervisors and peers to read and critique, and then revise based on feedback, a draft is done.
So I'm here to share my exegesis and am going to be sharing some research insights in future. I have so many plans for this research in terms of teaching notes and other ideas for ways to undertake advocacy about the Srebrenica genocide. for now, I'm going to go out with my tiny to the cinema to celebrate. Drum roll please, my thesis is: Title: Emotional Truth in the Shadow of History: Analysing the Intersection of Fact and Fiction in Srebrenica Novels by Non-Bosnian Authors This thesis examines The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan and Braco by Lesleyanne Ryan, exploring how these novels portray the Srebrenica massacre. It argues that Srebrenica's significance lies in its status as the first European genocide conviction since the Holocaust and evaluates how these works document the event. Using a historical novel framework, the study focuses on the paratexts to assess how the authors shape readers' interpretation of the texts and contextualize the massacre's portrayal. Khan's portrayal highlights Bosnia's pluralistic society, the role of ultranationalist propaganda, and the UN's complicity. Ryan's depiction focuses on peacekeepers but lacks depth in understanding Bosnian culture and intermarriage dynamics. Through this analysis, the research underscores the importance of grounding representations of Srebrenica in thorough research to address the complex historical and cultural factors.

Met with my bestie today. We had a deep and meaningful. Something stirred, some words, threads, lines. It's a poem! Selfish or Selfless Is it better to be self-less or selfish? My bestie and I are soul mates Two parts of the whole She is completely selfless I am completely selfish She gives of herself regardless of how much it costs her I will love people only as much as they love me She will forgive and put the needs of others above her own I am unforgiving and cut those that disrespect or diss me I told her today that if we took a bit of each other We would make the perfect person For now, I will be her advisor And she will be my reminder On how to be selfish On how to be selfless I am offering a self publishing course at the Hunt Club Community Arts Centre. A riveting thriller that is very unexpected. I love how there are constant red herrings and the feeling that you're reading one story, and then there is a sleight of hand and a reveal. Very engrossing and entertaining read.
Four women at a boutique hotel in Venice, each fighting their own battle and heartbreak. The writing is amazing, and the characterisation was sublime. This story was beautiful and heartbreaking at once. Reading this book was engrossing and yet so tense. I also understand why it is being marketed as a thriller-I could not put it down. It touches on such important issues and with such a light touch. Someone described it as a perfect mix of light and dark and I couldn't agree more.
Congratulations Tess Woods on the launch of your new book The Venice Hotel. It was so lovely seeing you again tonight and I can't wait to read it. Your books always make me laugh and cry. Looking forward to the rollercoaster!!!!
It's always a pleasure to write about the achievements of young people and this exhibition showcasing Western suburbs youth was a wonderful opportunity. Also must give a shout out to the amazing teachers who used their passion and time to put up this exhibition.

Then I add the matching bookmark for the memoir. I add extra bookmarks for my other books and my imprint Pishukin Press. I pack the book like a parcel using recycled paper and a brown string, add a gift card and then insert into a parcel post bag. I email the customer with the parcel post number and confirmation that I have posted the book. If you buy any of my paperbacks or audiobooks via my shop you get 20% off.
