It has been an amazing week and my insomnia is buzzing, so I'm riding the wave until the crash comes. Finished a draft of my novel. Confirmation that I’m a Meanjin contributor in the next issue. Filed one article to a new publication and new style of writing. Had an acceptance to an anthology. Pitched another two ideas.
Sabiha's Dilemma audiobook narrated by Nina Nikolic is now on Audible, Binge Books, Libro.fm, Chirp, Scribd, Google Play, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Audible, Storytel, Audiobooks.com, Booksamillion, Apple, Spotify. Listen to chapter 1 and find purchase links here. "Nikolic has a wonderful voice, perfectly suited to audiobooks, and particularly this one. I admit to loving the Australian accent anyway, but she is so good with the Bosnian pronunciations, I had to Google her to see if she had lived there." Goodreads review The end on Jesse’s Triumph, the third novel in my young adult series titled Sassy Saints. This is the fastest book I have finished because I had the luxury of time. I wrote the crappy first draft of 40K during National Novel Writing Month in November. The past two weeks I’ve been on long service leave from teaching and going to my writing studio every day where I could spend the day writing, between school pick and drop off. It felt like the novel wrote itself and at 64,500 worlds, it’s only slightly longer than the word count of 60,000 words I was aiming for. As a chronic over-writer, this is significant progress. Drink of choice, French Earl Grey Tea. Yum.

My essay is titled St Albans and is a love letter to my suburb and to teaching. So happy to be in such brilliant company. https://www.mup.com.au/books/meanjin-vol-82-no-1-paperback-softback--1 Second workshop at Caroline Springs Library delving into creative writing techniques to apply to non fiction. An enthusiastic and engaged group. Lots of questions about publishing so going to develop a trad vs self publishing workshop and pitch libraries.

It's that frenzy where I can just see the finish line. My only issue is-can I wrap it all up without going too far over my self-imposed word count of 60,000 words.
My first week in my writing studio has been phenomenal. I'm working on a readable draft of Jesse's Triumph, the third in my Sassy Saints series. I started this as a Nano project and wrote 40K words of a rough draft, now I'm smoothing it into shape so that it is readable first draft. I always loved Jesse as a character, but now I have the opportunity to bring his world and story to life, and I'm even more in love with him. It has both been a challenge and a joy re-writing scenes from the first two books and adding depth as I develop Jesse's story and I'm so excited about how it's all coming together.
